Know Tough Love

“And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him.”
1 John 4:16

The Bible tells us very clearly that God is love. The Bible also says that God loves me!

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
John 3:16

I have learned that sometimes love is not AT ALL what I imagined. Regardless of my imperfections, God’s love for me is perfect. No one knows me better than God. I remember a specific time in my life when I encountered a very stressful and desperate life experience. In it, I ran out of ME options. In this state of fear and despair, I found myself in unfamiliar territory. No one on this earth could resolve my issue, I was certain. It was a time of emotional, physical, and mental pain unlike anything I had ever experienced. This was truly the agony of defeat for me.

I cried out to God. For the first time in my life, I read His word daily. I recorded sermons and listened repeatedly. I meditated on the word of God. I searched for Him in everything. I needed help, comfort, SOMETHING. It seemed like a lifetime passed. Looking back, it wasn’t long at all. In my search, I FOUND GOD.

“But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.”
Hebrews 11:6

Now I know God in a way I would not have. I’m thankful that GOD loves ME enough to call ME to Himself.

”For whom the Lord loves He chastens, And scourges every son whom He receives.”
Hebrews 12:6

This was the battle of my lifetime. Now, that horrible experience is the greatest joy of my life that I can cherish in remembrance. I reflect back with great fondness and love for God. It’s a precious jewel locked forever in my heart that is priceless to me.

Do you know tough love? God knows tough love. He gave his Son for ME.

Father, thank you that Your love for me is perfect. Thank You for correcting me and directing my path. Help me to know, love and trust You even more today. Thank You for comforting me with Your presence in my life. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
